Termomecanica São Paulo ranks amongst the largest Brazilian private companies, and is the leader in the processing of non-ferrous metal sector –copper and its alloys– and also in semi-finished and finished products, such as: bars, rods, sections, wires, rolled products (sheets, strips and plates) refrigeration tubes, industrial tubes, gas and water tubes, bronze bushings and TM 23 bronze bushings, flat bars for applications in steel mills and power plants and TM 620 bronze bushings and billets.
A solid cash company, owner of a net worth estimated at over US$ 800 million, Termomecanica has been growing continuously as a result of the ongoing updating and expansion programs, which defines its traditional strategy of reinvestment of profits.
The company was founded in 1942 by Mr. Salvador Arena, an engineer who started his business with only US$ 200. The first equipment was imported from the United States and helped to boost its expansion. Soon, the small manufacturer of bakery ovens moved from its small building, at Mooca neighborhood, to a bigger one, at Ipiranga district, in São Paulo City.
Taking advantage of his expertise in metallurgy, Mr. Arena succeeded in his business and the company, which was already a thriving copper and alloys foundry, moved to its own headquarters, where it is located up to now, at a large facility, built on a big piece of land where there were only small farms in São Bernardo do Campo city.
In 1957, the company had already 50 employees and the whole production was centralized at the headquarters. The line of sheets and rods was extended, and the company began to specialize on the production of specific parts, which were imported by the Brazilian companies at that time.
In the 1960’s, Termomecanica began to apply a new management model, valuingthe employees and setting a fair wage policy. In addition to good salaries and benefits, they received productivity bonuses in a time when those working advantages were not foreseen by the Brazilian Labor Laws.
The continuing strong growth of Termomecanica required the expansion of the factory. So, in 1985, the company built a new facility, unit II, also in the city of São Bernardo do Campo.
In 2012, Termomecanica celebrated 70 years of a sucessfull trajectory. Nowadays, the company structure is as follows:
- Two plants in São Bernardo do Campo City / São Paulo / Brazil
- A Distribution Center in São Bernardo do Campo City / São Paulo/Brazil
- A Distribution Center in Joinville / Santa Catarina / Brazil
- A plant in Tortuguitas / Buenos Aires / Argentina (Cembrass Argentina)
- A plant in Santiago / Chile (Cembrass Chile)
The constant investment on new technologies and the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment contribute to the continuous improvement of products and processes, which leads to the consequent increasing of the production and a greater participation on the global market.
